Customer Information – macOS 26 Tahoe Compatibility

With the release of macOS 26 ("Tahoe"), Apple has removed system-level support for FireWire audio devices. As a result, RME FireWire interfaces such as the Fireface 800 and Fireface 400 can no longer be used under this operating system.
The required FireWire driver infrastructure is no longer available in macOS, and therefore no driver updates or workarounds are possible. Users depending on FireWire-based RME interfaces should remain on macOS 15 Sequoia or earlier, or consider migrating to a current RME USB Interface solution.
All RME USB, PCIe and Thunderbolt devices remain fully supported under macOS 26.
FireWire Support Ends — Your Fireface Still Has More to Give
Both the Fireface 800 and 400 feature ADAT connectivity, allowing you to repurpose them as high-quality converters. Simply connect them to a current RME interface, and you can expand your system with extra analog inputs and outputs. Perfect for studios that always need more flexibility!
